What is Thomas Cook Group about?

Thomas Cook Group plc was a British travel company formed in 2007 by the merger of Thomas Cook AG and MyTravel Group. It operated tour operations and an airline. In September 2019, Thomas Cook Group entered compulsory liquidation after last-minute negotiations to secure additional funding of £200 million from the UK government failed. Over 600,000 tourists were left stranded abroad as a result of the collapse of the 178-year old company.
