About this document

Overview of Aminoglycoside Antibiotics by Gareth Bale is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Aminoglycosides are a group of bactericidal antibiotics obtained from Streptomyces bacteria. They include streptomycin, neomycin, kanamycin, amikacin, gentamicin, tobramycin, and sisomicin. Aminoglycosides are mainly used against gram-negative enteric bacteria, especially in bacteremia and sepsis. They are also used in combination with other antibiotics like vancomycin or penicillin for infections like endocarditis and tuberculosis. Aminoglycosides work by irreversibly inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis
