Embroidery is an ancient art of decorating fabric with thread or yarn using stitches. There are many types of embroidery stitches that serve different purposes like satin stitch which completely covers an area, backstitch which is used for outlines, and running stitch which is the basic stitch that others are based on. Embroidery originated as early as 30,000 BC and was practiced by ancient cultures for decorative embellishment of textiles.
