What is Bataan Death March: April 1942 Overview about?

After the surrender of U.S. and Filipino troops on the Bataan Peninsula in April 1942, the Japanese forced approximately 75,000 prisoners to make a brutal 65-mile march to prison camps with little food or water. Thousands perished along the way due to abuse, starvation, and disease in what became known as the Bataan Death March. The U.S. eventually avenged this atrocity by recapturing the Philippines and trying the Japanese commander for war crimes.
