Asymmetric polymers. XXVI. Optically active polyamides: (–)poly‐( S )‐4‐ tert ‐butoxymethyl‐ and 4‐hydroxymethyl‐6‐hexanamide by C. G. Overberger; John H. Kozlowski is a Materials Science article available to read on EtoBox.

What is Asymmetric polymers. XXVI. Optically active polyamides: (–)poly‐( S )‐4‐ tert ‐butoxymethyl‐ and 4‐hydroxymethyl‐6‐hexanamide about?

## Abstract Racemic and optically active hexahydro‐5‐__tert__‐butoxymethyl‐2__H__‐azepin‐2‐one were polymerized, and the resulting poly‐4‐__tert__‐butoxymethyl‐6‐hexanamides were treated to remove the __tert__‐butyl protective group. ORD and CD spectra of (–)‐poly‐(__S__)‐4‐__tert__‐butoxymethyl‐6‐hexanamide and (–)poly‐(__S__)‐4‐hydroxymethyl‐6‐hexanamide were compared with spectra of their low molecular weight models, (__S__)(–)‐6‐acetamido‐4‐__tert__‐butoxymethyl‐__N__‐methylhexanamide and (__S__)( – )‐6‐acetamido‐4‐hydroxymethyl‐__N__‐methylhexanamide, in 2,2,2‐trifluoroethanol, __p__‐dioxane–water mixtures, and methanol–water mixtures.
