What is The Masterpiece Affair (a Simon And Schuster Novel Of Suspense) about?
The challenge of the world-famous Tate Gallery is a part of what tempts reformed cat burglar Spider Scott once again to practice his abandoned craft.. The rest of it: justice. Spider's brother Dick is suspended from the police force on suspicion of accepting a bribe. When Spider contacts the famous fence Max Harris, the man supposedly responsible for the accusation, the charge is changed to murder—the victim, Max! In attempting to clear Dick, Spider becomes involved with Max's prime competitor, and he is forced to take on the seemingly impossible task of breaking into the Tate Gallery. Spider knows he is facing his hardest job, but that odd extra chromosome would have urged him to accept the challenge even if his brother's freedom were not at stake.
