This document describes procedures for determining the flakiness and elongation indices of aggregate samples according to BS 812: Part 1-3. The flakiness index test is performed on aggregates passing a 63 mm sieve and retained on a 6.3 mm sieve. Particles thinner than 60% of their nominal size are considered flaky.
