Lack of efficacy: case report A woman in her 30s' [exact age not stated] exhibited a lack of efficacy during treatment with lenvatinib for synchronous hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and clear cell renal carcinoma.The woman (at the age of 33 years) was hospitalised because of acute onset of abdominal pain in the right side without any trauma or other apparent causes. The US abdominal examination showed the presence of two masses, which included one at the right kidney, and the other at the right lobe of the liver. She had a history of psoriasis, mild smoke for about 15 years, no alcohol abuse and a varied diet. Her family history included a bladder cancer in the paternal grandfather and a prostate cancer in the father. Based on findings, a diagnosis of high grade HCC and clear cell renal carcinoma were made. Hence, she underwent she underwent a resection of HCC, wedge resection and right nephrectomy. About 1-year after surgery, she again underwent wedge resection. Subsequently, she started receiving systemic therapy with lenvatinib [route and dosage not stated].
