What is Bloody Sunday: The 1972 Derry Massacre about?

Bloody Sunday was a protest in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, on January 30, 1972, against British government policies allowing imprisonment without trial for suspected IRA members, with around 10,000 participants. The demonstration turned violent when British soldiers opened fire on the crowd, resulting in 14 unarmed civilians being killed. Subsequent investigations revealed the shootings were unjustified, leading to a formal apology from the British government in 2010.
