What is Ereshkigal: Queen of the Underworld about?

Ereshkigal was the Mesopotamian goddess of the underworld. She ruled the land of the dead, called Irkalla, from her main temple in Kutha. As queen of the underworld, she represented the polar opposite of her sister Inanna, goddess of heaven. Ereshkigal played a prominent role in myths, notably judging Inanna when she descended to the underworld and later marrying Nergal, god of plague and death, to rule jointly over the realm of the dead.
