What is Intraoperative Pubic Arch Interference (i-PAI) During Trans-rectal Ultrasound Guided Prostate Seed Brachytherapy (PB) in patients With CT-Based Prostate to Pubic-Arch Overlap (PAO) of ≤1 cm about?

Purpose/Objective(s): Hormonal therapy (HT) plays a key role in the management of high risk but not low risk prostate cancer (PC). Furthermore, it is well established that dose escalation improves biochemical control in intermediate risk PC (IRPC). However, for IRPC, the use of dose escalation with HT still remains under evaluation. This retrospective study described and analyzed the different IRPC treatment modalities. Materials/Methods: From May 1996 to December 2005, 596 patients (pts) presenting with non metastatic IRPC were irradiated with or without a short course of HT in 6 South of France Institutions. Four treatment groups (G) were defined: low dose radiation therapy (RT) (G1), low dose RT plus HT (G2), high dose RT (G3), and high dose RT plus HT (G4). Patients were analyzed according to the treatment group and the number of intermediate risk factor (IRF) (T2b and/or PSA . 10 ng/ml and/or Gleason score (GS) = 7). Results: Patients were clinically classified as (AJCC/TNM 1997): T1c in 138 pts (23.1%), T2a in 230 pts (38.6%), T2b in 200 pts (33.6%), and T2x (T2 without precision) in 28 pts (4.7%). GS was #6 in 300 pts (50.4%) and equal to 7 in 296 pts (49.6%). GS 7 pts were
