This study reviews the long-term outcomes of 17 patients with 18 blister aneurysms of the internal carotid artery treated between 1994 and 2005. The results indicate that microsurgical treatment, primarily through direct clipping, yields excellent outcomes with a mean Glasgow Outcome Scale score of 4.6 at a mean follow-up of 74.5 months. Complications included intraoperative ruptures and rebleeding, but overall, the treatment was effective with no perioperative mortality.
