Introduction: Previous studies have shown that black patients with pancreatic cancer are less likely to undergo surgical resection and have worse overall survival than white patients. However, diff erences in the use of Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) between these groups is not known. Methods: Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) and linked Medicare claims data were used to identify patients over age 65 with pancreatic adenocarcinoma localized to the head of the pancreas between 2000 and 2011. Claims data was used to identify patients who had undergone surgical resection, ERCP, and EUS. Demographic characteristics were compared using the chi-squared test for categorical variables. Results: Among patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer located in the head of the pancreas, significantly more patients underwent ERCP than surgery (64% vs 17%, p < 0.001, Table 1).
