A paleomagnetic and rock magnetic study of Carboniferous red beds in western Newfoundland was conducted to detect and correct for inclination shallowing. Results indicate the primary remanence is carried by magnetite. The mean direction is D = 179.7°, I = 33.7°, which corresponds to a paleopole at 22.2°N, 122.3°E.
