Iqbal delivered a presidential address in 1930 calling for an independent Muslim-majority state in northwestern India. In the address, he outlined a vision of consolidating Punjab, North-West Frontier Province, Sindh, and Baluchistan into a single Muslim state within or separate from the British Empire. Iqbal argued this was the destiny of Muslims in northwest India and would help solve political issues in Asia.
