In Uganda, protected areas (PAs) include national parks, wildlife reserves, forest reserves, and wetlands, and are managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority and National Forestry Authority. The Uganda Wildlife Authority specifically manages 10 national parks, 12 wildlife reserves, 5 community wildlife areas, and 13 wildlife sanctuaries. Uganda also has several important wetland sites designated under the Ramsar Convention due to their biodiversity importance, including the Mburo Nakivali System in Lake Mburo
