About this document
Understanding Tornadoes: Facts & Formation by Thaniksha Sabari is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Tornadoes can appear in different shapes from a traditional funnel to a slender rope-like form. They most commonly occur in the central US, known as Tornado Alley, where warm and cold air masses collide. A tornado forms within a thunderstorm when the rotating winds tilt vertically. A funnel cloud becomes a tornado when it touches down. While tornado formation is still not fully understood, the key ingredients are instability caused by colliding air masses within thunderstorms.
