What is Trigeminal Nerve Anatomy Overview about?
The sensory components of the short ciliary nerves pass through the ciliary ganglion without synapsing. Proprioreceptive sensory axons from the extraocular muscles travel initially with cranial nerves III, IV and VI but leave them to join the ophthalmic division of the trigeminal nerve as it courses posteriorly through the cavernous sinus. The figure V-4 shows the general sensory component of the trigeminal nerve, ophthalmic V1 division.
