About this document

Understanding African Swine Fever (ASF) by Oscar Chipfunde is a document available to read on EtoBox.

African Swine Fever is a highly contagious and deadly viral disease affecting pigs. The virus can spread between pigs through direct contact or contact with infected materials. It is also spread from warthogs, which can carry the virus without symptoms, to pigs via ticks. Symptoms in pigs include loss of appetite, difficulty breathing, vomiting, diarrhea and death usually within 2 to 10 days. There is no treatment and the disease causes serious economic losses due to pig deaths and restrictions on pig sales
