What is Understanding the p-Test for Integrals about?
The p-test provides a method to determine if improper integrals of the form ∫a∞ f(x) dx (Type I) or ∫ab f(x) dx (Type II), where f(x) can be compared to 1/xp, converge or diverge. For Type I integrals, if p>1 the integral converges and if p≤1 the integral diverges. For Type II integrals, if p<1 the integral converges and if p≥1 the integral diverges.
