About this document

Understanding Multiple Pregnancy Types by Nura Bamaiyi is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Multiple gestation, commonly known as twin pregnancy, occurs when more than one fetus develops in the uterus simultaneously. The most common type is dizygotic twins resulting from the fertilization of two separate eggs. Diagnosis is made through history, clinical examination finding an enlarged uterus, and sonography identifying separate gestational sacs or fetal parts. Investigations like biochemical markers are also elevated with a multiple gestation pregnancy.
