DNA contains the genetic code in the form of genes located on chromosomes. DNA is transcribed into RNA and translated to produce proteins, which give rise to traits. Most traits are multifactorial, influenced by multiple genes and environmental factors. While genes play a role, the environment also influences how genes are expressed.
