What is D-Dimer Levels in Cerebral Venous Thrombosis about?
This study evaluates the role of D-dimer levels in diagnosing acute cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) through a case-control design involving 40 patients with CVT and 10 controls. Results showed that 97.5% of CVT patients had elevated D-dimer levels, indicating its usefulness as a screening tool for early diagnosis, while only 10% of the control group tested positive. The findings suggest that while a negative D-dimer test does not rule out CVT, a positive result strongly indicates its presence.
