Photochemical Studies, 63. — Photostability of Some 1,4‐Benzodiazepines in the Crystalline State. UV irradiation of chlorodiazepoxide (1) and its hydrochloride led to three photoproducts: 2‐ ‐__N__‐methylacetamide (2), 1‐benzoyl‐__7__‐chloro‐1,2‐dihydro‐3‐methylaminoquinoxaline (3) and __7__‐chloro‐3,4‐dihydro‐2‐methylamino‐4‐phenyl‐__5H__‐1,4‐benzodiazepine‐__5__‐one (4). The photochemical degradation of 1, 1‐hydrochloride, diazepam and nitrazepam in the crystalline state have been investigated and determined densitometrically.
