What is Polymerization-Induced Hierarchical Self-Assembly: From Monomer to Complex Colloidal Molecules and Beyond about?

Additional Experimental Details ## Materials Diisopropyl carbodiimide (DIC; >99%) was purchased from Oakwood Chemical (USA). 4-Dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP; 99%) was purchased from Alfa Aesar. 4-Cyano-4 (((dodecylthio) carbonothioyl) thio) pentanoic acid (CDTPA; 97%) was purchased from Boron Molecular (Australia). Randomly methylated-β-cyclodextrin (MβCD, M n ~1300 g/mol, average degree of substitution = 11.8, 98%, Zhiyuan Biotech, China) was used as received. Poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether (mPEG 113 , average M n 5,000 g/mol; mPEG 45 , average M n 2,000 g/mol), tert-butyl methacrylate (tBMA), tert-butyl acrylate (tBA) and styrene (st) were purchased from Sigma Aldrich (Australia). 4,4'-Azobis(4cyanopentanoic acid) (ACVA) was purchased from Wako Pure Chemical Industries, Ltd. Deionized (DI) water was obtained from Milli-Q system (Millipore). All the other solvents were obtained from commercial sources and were used as received unless noted otherwise. ## Characterization methods Dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements were performed at 25 °C using Malvern Zetasizer Nano ZS. The aqueous dispersions containing the diblock copolymer nano-objects were diluted to 0.10 % w/v by DI
