The Atlantic Theater - Winter 1942.Walter Crisham a tour expired Bomber Pilot is promoted to Squadron Leader at the end of his tour in India fighting the Japanese, and is posted for his 'rest' tour to RAF Coastal Command as a newly minted squadron commander. He is displeased greatly already at his posting, preferring to remain on Ops in India, but he finds himself utterly disgusted when upon reporting on arrival to the Air Station Commander he finds yet another ugly surprise in the form of the newly promoted Group Captain Tennant who he first went to India to escape from.To say that Crisham and Tennant didn't get on would have been stating the 'bleeding obvious', with both long term rivals in war and in love. G/C Tennant is now married to his former love Diana, and it pains Crisham to witness how unhappy she has become within their utterly shambolic and totally loveless marriage.
