Sir William David Ross was a Scottish philosopher known for his work in ethics, particularly his book The Right and the Good. In it, he developed a pluralist, deontological form of intuitionist ethics in response to G.E. Moore. Ross believed there were six prima facie duties that all humans recognize: fidelity, gratitude, self-improvement, beneficence, justice, and non-injury to others.
