What is Understanding Mystical Illumination about?

Illumination is a term used to describe mysticism, derived from the Latin illuminatio and applied to Christian prayer in the 15th century. While translated as enlightenment and used in Buddhist texts, it describes mystical attainment regardless of faith. However, using the term enlightenment to describe bodhi is based more on resemblance to Aufklärung than actual Enlightenment ideas, as bodhi emphasizes feeling, intuitive insight, and essence beyond appearances, resembling Romanticism more closely.
