This study examines the quality of life of patients on peritoneal dialysis (PD) and their caregivers over a 1-year period. The authors found that both patients and caregivers had impaired quality of life at the start of dialysis. Their quality of life improved after 1 year, with statistically significant improvements in social functioning. Caregivers of highly dependent patients, who required daily assistance with dialysis, experienced a statistically significant worsening of their mental health over 1 year
