What is (1174) Impact of Collaborative Weight Management: Single Center Study about?

Purpose Obesity (body mass index ≥30 kg/m2) can be a barrier to listing for lung transplantation (LT) and may contribute to post-LT complications, including diabetes. Anti-obesity medications (AOM) are underutilized in people with obesity awaiting LT. We reviewed the impact of referral from our LT program to an academic medical center's Weight Wellness Program (WWP) on body weight. Methods We performed a retrospective chart review of patients affiliated with the LT center referring to the WWP in the last six years. Demographics, body weight change, duration, and type of treatment were recorded and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results 29 patients were referred to WWP from 11/2016 to 3/2022. Mean age was 55 ±11 years, 65% female, and 75.8% Caucasian. Mean BMI at the initial visit to WWP was 34.37 kg/m2 ±3.6 kg/m2 and mean BMI at the most recent clinic visit was 30.65 kg/m2 ±4.81 kg/m2 (Table 1). Statistically significant reduction in BMI was observed in 86% of patients referred to WWP (mean 3.78 kg/m2, p < 0.001) with mean treatment duration of 25 ± 15 months.
