What is Antioxidant Activity of Medicinal Plants about?
Twenty-four traditional medicinal plants from Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia were tested for their antioxidant properties. The methanol extract of Sterculia quadrifida root showed the highest DPPH radical scavenging activity with an IC50 of 3.11 μg/mL, followed by Schleichera oleosa and Euphorbia hirta. Sterculia quadrifida also exhibited the strongest ABTS radical scavenging activity with an IC50 of 7.29 μg/mL, outperforming Eugenia jambolana and Lamea grandus.
