This study investigates the effectiveness of silicon gel sheeting in preventing nasal injuries in preterm infants using nasal continuous positive airway pressure (NCPAP). Out of 179 infants, those treated with silicon gel experienced significantly fewer nasal injuries (4.3%) compared to those without (14.9%), indicating a protective effect. The findings suggest that silicon gel application may reduce both the incidence and severity of nasal injuries associated with NCPAP in preterm infants.
