The study assessed the efficacy of ultrasonic waves in removing biofilms composed of Streptococcus mutans in vitro and in vivo. In vitro experiments identified optimal conditions for biofilm removal, such as a frequency of 280 kHz, duty cycle of 50-90%, and exposure time of 3 minutes. The addition of microbubbles further enhanced biofilm removal. Moderate biofilm removal was observed in vivo with a 280 kHz probe for 5 minutes.
