What is Bridge Over Troubled Water about?

Bridge Over Troubled Water is the dark tale of San Franciscos go-to police hostage negotiator and chronic gambler, Jerry Craig. With a rising number of suicides at the citys iconic Golden Gate Bridge, the chief assigns Jerry with the task of convincing potential jumpers to reconsider. But despite his exemplary professional record, Jerrys private life is like an expanding his marriage ended in divorce long ago, his estranged daughter Ellie uses drugs to escape depression, and his grandson is in the custody of his rapist fathers parents. Meanwhile, Jerry spends as much time as he can at the track with his second-rate racehorse, Slim Genie. When he gets involved with Lindsay, a woman he talked down from the bridge, things start looking up until she asks him to murder her abusive husband. As the cracks in Jerrys personality start to show, the citys top negotiator finds himself between a rock and a hard place, pushed closer and closer to the edge
