What is Overview of Hyakumantō Darani about?

The document discusses the Hyakumantō Darani, which are some of the earliest surviving examples of printing in Japan. The Hyakumantō Darani consisted of Buddhist prayers or spells that were printed on paper and housed in miniature pagoda-shaped wooden cases. While woodblock printing from Chinese temples arrived in Japan in the 8th century, the Hyakumantō Darani are considered the earliest homegrown examples of printing in Japan alongside some Korean texts.
