What is Thoreau about?

Henry David Thoreau describes surveying the land around Walden Pond and imagining himself living on various farms in the area. He discusses finding sites that seemed suitable to build a house and living off the land, though he never fully commits to owning property. Thoreau recounts briefly living at the Hollowell farm but ultimately not purchasing it. He then introduces living alone in a small cabin by Walden Pond for over two years, finding joy in the natural surroundings and living simply.
