What is Child-Pugh Classification of Cirrhosis about?
The Child-Pugh classification assesses the severity of cirrhosis based on five parameters: ascites, bilirubin, albumin, prothrombin time, and encephalopathy. Scores categorize patients into three classes: A (5-6 points, well-compensated), B (7-9 points, significant compromise), and C (10-15 points, decompensated), with corresponding survival rates. Class A has the highest survival rates at 100% and 85% for one and two years, respectively, while class C has the lowest at 45% and 35%.
