What is Cr(VI) reduction by Bacillus licheniformis B22 isolated from Pamukkale thermal region about?
Opinion in Biotechnology 22S (2011) S15-S152 S69 soil) were identified by molecular methods. ITS-PCR, 18S-rDNA-RFLP and partial sequence analysis of D1/D2 domain of 26S-rDNA. All Y. lipolytica strains were screened by analytical methods for extracellular lipase production, on media containing different oils as substrates. Twenty-two out of 185 yeast strains tested were identified as Y. lipolytica by each of the methods. The best lipase producer Y. lipolytica strain was selected. Phenotypic characterization of yeasts can lead to serious misidentification. Over the recent years, different molecular methods relying on comparative DNA studies have been introduced ensuring an accurate and reliable characterization and identification of yeasts. To confirm results of identification, we used three different molecular techniques. Moreover, microbial lipases have been widely used for biotechnological applications in detergents, dairy and textile industries, production of surfactants, and oil processing. There is still an interest in finding new lipases. So, in our study were screened local Y. lipolytica strains for lipase production.
