Donna Strickland is a Canadian physical engineer known for her groundbreaking work in generating high-intensity ultrashort optical pulses. She studied at McMaster University, the University of Rochester, and Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute, and developed the CPA (Chirped Pulse Amplification) technique at the age of 26 with her thesis director, Gerard Mourou. This method has become the standard for obtaining high-intensity lasers.
