This research investigates the enhancement of flame retardancy in polyurethane foam (PUF) through the use of DOPO-immobilized silica aerogel nanoparticles. The study demonstrates that incorporating these nanoparticles significantly reduces the heat release rate and total heat release during combustion, suggesting improved fire resistance. The findings indicate that the modified silica aerogel can inhibit polyurethane degradation and promote the formation of a protective carbonaceous layer during burning.
