What is Onychomycosis from Trichophyton raubitschekii about?

This case report describes an instance of onychomycosis (fungal nail infection) caused by the fungus Trichophyton raubitschekii. The patient was a 22-year-old male student from Cameroon presenting with nail damage and infection of the right thumbnail. Microscopic examination and culture testing identified the causative fungus as T. raubitschekii based on morphological and physiological characteristics. This represents the first reported case of onychomycosis caused by this fungus in Italy.
