What is Rescue the Perishing Hymn Lyrics about?

This song encourages Christians to rescue those who are perishing and dying from sin by telling them about Jesus, who is mighty to save. It urges pleading with both earnestness and gentleness for those who are slighting Jesus, as he is waiting to receive the penitent. It also notes that crushed and buried feelings in the human heart can be restored by grace and a loving touch, awakening chords that were broken. The song calls rescuing the perishing a duty and promises God will provide strength for the labor
