What is Democritus and the Atomic Theory about?

Democritus was an influential ancient Greek philosopher best known for formulating an early atomic theory of the universe. He was born around 460 BC in Abdera, Thrace. His ideas on atoms were similar but not identical to modern theories, and were developed alongside his mentor Leucippus. Democritus proposed the idea that all matter is made up of indivisible atoms in constant motion, an idea that anticipated modern atomic theory by over two millennia. However, his writings have not survived.
