The death sentence of Caroline Grills, who was found guilty of administering thallium poison to her sister-in-law with intent to murder, has been commuted to life imprisonment by the NSW Cabinet. Grills, now 63, had originally been charged with four thallium murders and three attempted murders involving family members between 1947 and 1954. She will now serve about 14 years in prison, the normal expectation of life for someone her age under prison rules. The sentence will be served at Long Bay Women
