Jose P. Laurel served as president of the Japanese-occupied Second Philippine Republic during World War II from 1943 to 1945. He was a Filipino politician, lawyer, and judge who studied law in the Philippines and the United States. Prior to becoming president, Laurel held several government positions including Secretary of the Interior, Senator, and Associate Justice of the Philippine Supreme Court.
