About this document
Tigecycline-Induced Severe Hypoglycemia Case by t r x s y l u v is a document available to read on EtoBox.
This case report discusses a 54-year-old female diabetic hemodialysis patient who experienced severe hypoglycemia (40-47 mg/dL) after starting treatment with tigecycline for a methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis infection. Despite normal insulin levels and no other identifiable causes, the hypoglycemic episodes persisted for 16-18 hours after the last dose of the antibiotic. This rare adverse effect highlights the need for clinicians to monitor blood glucose levels during tigecycline treatment.
