About this document

Biopower from Mountain Pine Beetle Wood by jan_so is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This document summarizes a study analyzing the feasibility of using mountain pine beetle-killed wood from British Columbia, Canada to produce bio-oil which can then be combusted to generate electricity. The study finds that producing bio-oil from the infected wood would cost $0.27-0.29/liter and generating electricity from that bio-oil would cost over $100/MWh, higher than both current electricity prices in BC and the estimated $68-74/MWh cost of directly combusting the infected wood to produce electricity.
