This volume examines the reception of Jean de Meun in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. It thereby complements and extends the research presented in an earlier publication, Jean de Meun et la culture me ́die ́vale: litte ́rature, art, sciences et droit aux derniers sie cles du Moyen A^ge (ed. by Jean-Patrice Boudet and others (Rennes: Presses universitaires de Rennes, 2017)), which focused on Jean de Meun's place in medieval French literary culture. Studies dedicated to the immediately post-medieval afterlives of French vernacular authors and their works are few and far between, making La Fortune de Jean de Meun of interest to those studying continuities and rupture between the medieval and early modern periods. The twelve essays collected here are organized into two groups, broadly corresponding to the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. After a concise introductory conspectus of Jean de Meun's reception over this period by Silve `re Menegaldo, Part One, 'Jean de Meun, du manuscrit a `l'imprime ́', charts the reception of Jean de Meun as author-figure and of his works from the early fifteenth-century Querelle du Roman de la Rose to the turn of the sixteenth century.
