What is Macromol. Rapid Commun. 11/2007 about?
Langmuir-Blodgett films of the cellulose derivative containing porphyrins, porphyrin-cellulose, were fabricated to construct the cellulose-based molecular photocurrent generation system. On visible light illumination of the LB monolayer film deposited on an ITO electrode, anodic photocurrents were observed. This is because porphyrins are located at a distance of approximately 1.03 nm along the cellulose backbone. Further details can be found in the article by K. Sakakibara,\* Y. Ogawa, H. Kamitakahara, T. Takano, and F. Nakatsubo on page 1270. ## Review Wet developing process-free methods for producing patterned fluorescence images in polymer films are described. Removal of the wet developing process allows for the rapid and cost effective fabrication of patterned images. In the ''precursor approach'', the fluorescence of precursor molecules has been manipulated by diverse photoinduced structural transformations. Without any doubt, this approach will be a promising alternative to the conventional two-step method.
