About this document
Alpha Amylase Production by Bacillus cereus by Jumardin is a document available to read on EtoBox.
This document summarizes a study that isolated Bacillus cereus bacteria from soil samples in Nigeria and tested their ability to produce the enzyme alpha-amylase. Bacillus cereus strain SB2 produced the highest alpha-amylase activity of 1.62U/ml on nutrient agar plates and 2.56U/ml during submerged fermentation. When production parameters were optimized for SB2, maximum enzyme activity was obtained at a pH of 6.5, temperature of 35°C, incubation time of 24 hours and 4% inoculum concentration.
